I got a message from a band today asking me to sign up for their saynow.com account. Well Curiousity got to me so i checked it out.
Its a website that allows artists to broadcast voicemails to all of their fans.
Now I was thinking for using this as a new mailing list/podcast. I guess you can sell ringtones and wall papers on it as well.

There is not really a "weak link" musician in the band, as all are adept at their own instruments. The guitar, drums, horn section, and vocals that comprise Five Iron Frenzy are all exceptional.

The band was known for their live performances, and dressing up on stage. They exhibit a sense of humor on stage, and are well known for their goofiness and how they don't seem to take themselves too seriously.

This isn't to say that the other listed bands aren't talented in their own ways. I saw Petra perform on their farewell tour and was completely blown away. They appeared completely sincere in their ministry, and were excellent musicians.
I used to be a bit of a skillet fan, but their music has changed over the years, and I haven't really kept up with them.
I've heard the Newsboys are excellent performers, and put on a great show. I find myself a bit annoyed at some of their lyrical content, however I've also heard that they are very serious about their ministry.

In my experience(this is, I believe, the most important part of my answer), music is about taste. Something I don't like may appeal greatly to someone else. This doesn't make my music better, or theirs worse. It just means that we look for different things when we listen to music or go to shows. Our tastes differ. I wish more people understood this, and were understanding or perhaps even appreciative of the differences they have with fans of other genres.

Honestly, a fauxhawk screams "poser who was too pansy to get a real mohawk". Besides, a hawk is more punk than anything else... I don't think you're looking for a punk hairstyle. If you were, liberty spikes are better anyway.

It was posted on their Myspace some months ago that he was leaving due to difficulties. I saw footage from last year's Warped performance from them - goddamn he ****** that performance up. I heard he never performs well. But he sounds SO GOOD on the recordings and I dont want him replaced. Well I checked their Myspace today and all mention of him leaving is gone, but there's no announcement that he's staying either. What's the deal? Is he staying or no?
Well Ronnie was oh heroin so he quit the band for a while to go into rehab. But then came back and now he's staying. I called them from the number that they posted and talked to them. Ronnie answered so he's still in the band, their voice mail message even has max and ronnie on it, they sounded like they were having fun. Hope this helps, since they are an awesome band!!!!!

I've worked in various aspects of the music industry, including A%26amp;R for a short while. If your song were submitted to a record company it would be chucked in the trash (and don't take that personally). The record industry is looking for music that they can immediately turn around and put on the radio. That said I hear some postive things in your music. The production is surprisingly good. You seem to have a good sense for phrasing. The playing is very solid. What you should work on would be a way to take the listener to unexpected places... I want to hear unexpected chords (that make sense)... I want to hear a style change (that doesn't sound out of place) that has dramatic effect... I want to hear something that is distinctly your style. Also you should think about a roller coaster.... good music has constant flow from tension to release and thats what gives the listener a rush. So the bottom line is your music isn't bad, but as you continue writing and gain maturity you will develop into something much better. You've got great potential... have fun and stick with it!

Yeah, they're pretty vile. That's the curse of MySpace...even the crappiest bands can get exposure and manage to have over 1,000 "friends"...few of whom really care about the band itself.

I remember Clutch. They were pretty awesome. Kind of a metal band, but smarter than metal bands. I think they appealed to a lot of Faith No More fans (although completely different sounding) and also people who liked Stoner Rock. Very Black Sabbath influenced. They weren't super popular, but record critics loved them.
Check ebay for the sticker maybe. Maybe do a Google search for the band to find an official site or fan site.

i heard the song on the bands myspace and downloaded it but i dont remember the bands name and i do not know how to get back to their page. it is a bluesy rock song, sounding alot like the noisettes. the lead singer is also a female. the first line says "i must be the devil's daughter."

Try " The Yuppie Pricks"....it sounds familiar but I'm not sure. Your best bet is finding that my space page! Try looking in your computer's history/ audio files and cross-reference dates and times to find the page when and where you downloaded it. This won't really help if it was too long ago or you've cleared all your history/cookies etc..

Ok I did what u guys said and created an artist profile and put my song on there, then on my original account went to it and clicked on 'add song to my profile'... but i got this message:
"Sorry, you cannot add other user's songs to your profile as a BAND.
You can add your own songs using the Profile Editor."
What does this mean?? How do i get the song on my profile??
That message i believe is if you try to add a song to you're profile by clicking the "add" button on another artists page. Make sure you logged out of you're artist account and logged in into your main one.
If you did that then i suggest mabye going to "Account Settings" and then clicking on "Spam" and checking allow bands to add me.

You can submit demos to record companies.Using a search engine, type "Record Company Directory" and you will find lists of website addresses and links to record companies, big and small.
Unfortunately, major record companies generally do not consider demos. Your best bet is to concentrate on small to medium record labels. One example is Flyte Tyme Records (although not in your genre). They have a website which describe how they review demos.
Record companies often have clauses in their contracts which may require that the group or artist perform the club circuit to promote their songs. Many artists are offered recording contracts from being discovered by A%26amp;R Reps of record labels while performing in clubs.

Bars and clubs man. Just check out clubs and bars, especially near any Universities and just get an audition. It won't pay a lot at first but someone may find you if you are good.
house shows are a good way to meet people and establish new connections and help get your foot in the door for more shows. remember: when you're talking to people about your music, be confident but not cocky.
just keep on making music and don't bother with popularity, if your songs are any good you'll get there just keep accepting gigs. the contrast being a star or an artist if you want to be a star try to look pretty (like disturbed) if artist just pour it all into your music than getting frustrated of not being known (tool or sorry to say pearl jam don't care if they sell or not)

NySoace is a great networking tool. Other wise post stuff on Youtube.com. There was a girl that posted herself singing once a week, a new song every week, and she got the attention of record execs for doing this. So, get your name out there as much as you can. Other than myspace, just go on a lot of threads and networking sites. I think there are some music sites like purevolume that you could join.
Make sure that you have songs up on the sites and that you respond to "fans" or criticism people leave up there or else they'll never come back.

I would start inviting known bands/artists to your myspace website %26amp; join theirs. Depending what kind of music you play, I'd look for websites which focus on your type of music %26amp; which have forums. Promote your band there %26amp; invite people to your gigs.
I'd also start playing more locally %26amp; getting more well known. Really focus on what makes your band stand out from the rest. Take out advertisements if you have to. Print up flyers %26amp; hand them out.

I would highly recommend purchasing the e-book "The Indie Bible". It has too many rescources to name here on places that you can advertise your music, radio stations and magazines that accept unsigned talent, and many other places to get you on your way.

There is only one way to have it happen:

Over my lifetime, I was able to ferret 4 recording contracts out of the powers that be, and the ONLY reason I was able to do so is because I busted my backside (all of the band members did) promoting the band. The last band I was in that was an original project, I was able to get label interest from 6 separate labels (although we broke up before anything happened). The way I was able to do so, is that I spent 2-3 hours a night on the copmputer contacting the magazines, web-sites, e-zines, radio stations, management companies, fans, link exchanges, other bands, booking compnaies, record companies, etc and getting the word out.
IF you do whatever it takes to "make it" and continue to do whatever it takes, and then keep doing what it takes after you have failed at it, you will eventually get to a certain level of acheivement... although, I strongly caution you against wishing... many times you get what you asked for, and not what you wanted.

go to settings and click on "calendar".
this is where you can make all your adjustments to your calendar.
you can "share calendar with" no one, friends, or everyone.

we are all just 15 and 16 years out but would like to start playing gigs and such. We dont have much money but we were able to record a rough demo the other day but we dont really know how to aproach small venues on getting a gig. Secure gigs at friends' parties to get the word out on how good (or bad) you are. Printing out flyers with cool graphics helps %26amp; the myspace link. If you become popular on the party circuit, more sophisticated venues might be willing to give you a try.
Depending on the kind of music you play, get a license from the city to play a street corner. This is basically how The Violent Femmes caught the attention of The Pretenders 25 years ago. Chrissie Hynde enjoyed their act so much she asked them to front her band while they were in town and the rest is history. Now you can hear Violent Femmes "Blister in the Sun" on a fast food ad.
You need to get a new member that can write better lyrics...
a good way to get free publicity is to play for free at a local charitable event. you can do good in your community that way and get some notice as well.
i sometimes Dj for such things and have got hired for other gigs for that reason.

Ok.. a few months ago i found a band that has a song that I like.. today when i went to go hear the song again i couldn't remember the song.. or the name of the band. I checked the history and I can't remember anything!! I slept on it and i STILL can't remember..

i think the genre was in emo..
and their layout did have eyes on it .. possibly a hand it its fingers were spread apart so you could see the eye..
